Installing Themes

Themes are boiler plated files meant to be customized for your specific needs. This is where you will apply your existing HTML5, PHP, and CSS3 skills.

A theme package consists of:

Store Original Theme In Library

Always keep original copy in the library

A theme should be first stored in the library at /library/themes. After you do this, the library themes folder should look like this:

/library
  /themes
    /qlick
    /anotherTheme
    /yetAnotherTheme

Using A Theme

Use a theme by copying its contents to the theme folder

To use a theme, copy it to the /theme directory. Do not include the /theme folder name as part of the file structure. Just store what's inside.

Right:

/theme
  /css
  /images
  /templates
  /starters
  theme.main.php
Wrong:
/theme
  /qlick
    /css
    /images
    /templates
    /starters
    theme.main.php

Using Qlick Theme

If you do not have a theme installed, you will get a HTTP 500 error.

When Qlicksoft CMS first runs after installation, there is no Theme installed and a HTTP 500 error will appear.

Qlicksoft CMS comes with the Qlick theme stored in the library. This theme is not enabled. If you want to use it, copy it to the /theme folder.

Fill In Your Website

When you are first starting out with a new installation, there will be no content, category, and front files. So when you browse your website, you will run into errors. Yes, this means you got some work to do!

You need to create those files and build your website up. You can take this approach:

I would recommend building the skeleton of the website and then gradually make changes over time to suit your needs.

To make content creation faster, there are starter .php.content files supplied for each mustache layout. Just fill them in, rename, and place them in the appropriate category folder.
